I was born in Spokane, Washington, and currently live in Salem, Oregon. I graduated from Western Washington University with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry before moving to Portland, Oregon, to find what life had to offer! I have known I wanted to be a teacher when I grew up since elementary school (once I gave up my dream of becoming a bus driver and a lion tamer). I finally decided to be grown up enough in 2010, when I returned to school to get my Masters of Arts in Teaching from Concordia University in Portland. Two years and some change later, I was hired as a Chemistry and Physical Science Teacher at McKay High School in Salem, Oregon.
I’m in my third year of teaching and I now teach Physical Science, Honors Physical Science, and AP Physics 1 at McKay. I love being a Royal Scot and can’t imagine working anywhere else.
Our district recently awarded me a grant for a classroom set of iPad minis and a teacher iPad Air. It’s a great honor and I look forward to using technology to differentiate my instruction and engage more learners!
I live with my wife, our two teenage kids, and our two dogs in a small house that we wouldn’t trade for a big one!
